Dr. Christopher Gostout, MD is currently a Consultant with the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, and the Chief Medical Officer for Apollo Endosurgery, Inc., which he co-founded in 2006. In addition, Dr. Gostout continues to serve an advisory role to numerous professional associations and medical device companies.
Prior to 2017, Dr. Gostout was an interventional gastroenterologist at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, with a joint appointment in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Department of Surgery. He was a Professor of Medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the Director of the Developmental Endoscopy and Research Unit. He was also the founder of The Mayo Clinic GI Bleeding Team and the Developmental Endoscopy Unit.
Dr. Gostout has been a Member of The Board of Trustees in the American College of Gastroenterology and served as President of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He is also the founder of the ASGE Interactive Training and Technology center.
Dr. Gostout holds a BS in Biology from Villanova. He then received a MD from the SUNY Downstate Medical Center and completed his residency and clinical training at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
